DAY 3

Welcome to DAY 3 of my experience of trying to quit smoking. Unfortunately, I LOST the battle today. Yes, it's very tragic. I feel pretty bad about it so we will get into it later. This blog is going to be a bit long, so thank you wholeheartedly for your patience. So DAY 3. Well I took a work from home today because of the cold. I don't know about the cold, but the cough has been present for the last 2 weeks. It was mostly dry at first, but then there was phlegm for the last few days - indicating a cold. But I haven't been coughing as much or as strongly since yesterday which I think is probably because I don't smoke 5 cigarettes daily anymore - hurrah?! I'm no doctor but sounds like I'm reaping one of the benefits already, at least that's what I'd like to believe. Anyone familiar with the Placebo effect  wouldn't underestimate the power of belief. Anyway, so I started the day at around 10 am with a nice breakfast of tea and cheela (pls google if yo...

DAY 2

Hi there again. Little recap for those who don't have the time to look at  DAY 1 , this is the ongoing experience of me trying to quit smoking - both cigarettes and the green grassy magic, marijuana. Well, as I have mentioned in the earlier blog, I am going cold turkey - why? - because the more normal method of tapering consumption gradually didn't work for me the last 2 times I tried it. Before I delve into my experience of today, I would like to share a little tidbit. The pen-name "Mr. Nothing" might have slightly piqued your curiosity. Don't worry, I won't leave loose ends. Well, for additional context, I am a self aware over-thinker and a perfectionist - ofc not medically diagnosed but rather self professed (do what you will with that) - just like most of you. Sometimes I think and over-think minute details in a bid to be perfect regarding my daily tasks, and most of the times the detail in question is just not worth the time taken or the number of brain c...

DAY 1

Hi, Mr. Nothing here. Well, this is one of my first attempts at writing something in the online world. This is the ongoing experience of me trying to quit smoking (up) - hence the name of the blog. For context, I am Indian 25M (been 12 days), and you can consider me to be an overpaid data scientist. I have been smoking cigs for about a year and a half now, and smoking up for well over 5 years. Started smoking up in the fourth semester of my Bachelor's degree, had to discontinue for a year in my Master's first year (not because I wanted to quit but Covid) and then continued till 2 years and a few months into my job, i.e. yesterday. Frequency of smoking - you might ask - easily 2 complete joints per day (considering 10 joints between 5 people) and 5 cigarettes a day after I started smoking them. And now I have gone "cold turkey" - which means I am not going to touch either of these for at least the next few months, if not forever. As to why I decided to start writing ab...
